Horara workshop
Designed in London

A small studio, a long lineage.

Horara was founded on a simple frustration: most modern jewellery is plated brass dressed up in expensive marketing. We wanted to make something honest — pieces with real material weight, finished by hand, and engineered to survive a lifetime of daily wear.

Every piece is designed in our studio just off the Goldsmiths' quarter in Hatton Garden, then cast and finished in partnership with British workshops that have been at it for generations. Nothing leaves until it carries the UK assay hallmark — your guarantee of purity, origin, and provenance.

Material Standards

What we use. Why it matters.

Two materials. No shortcuts. No mystery metals. Here's what goes into every Horara piece and why it stays looking the way it did the day you opened the box.

Hero Material

18ct Gold Vermeil

A thick 2.5-micron layer of 18-carat gold electroplated onto a solid 925 sterling silver base. Unlike standard plating (which can be as thin as 0.5 microns), our vermeil meets the strict UK definition and is built to last a decade or more of daily wear without fading.

Foundation

925 Sterling Silver

Solid sterling — 92.5% pure silver, alloyed for strength. Hand-polished to a mirror finish, hypoallergenic, and tarnish-resistant when cared for. Each piece is stamped with the British assay mark, the Goldsmiths' Company anchor, and the Horara maker's mark.

Accents

Onyx & Mother of Pearl

On select pieces, we set hand-cut black onyx and ethically sourced mother of pearl. Both are natural materials — slight variation in tone and grain is a feature, not a flaw. Each stone is set by hand and inspected under loupe before dispatch.

"We don't make trends. We make the piece you'll still reach for in ten years."
— The Horara Manifesto

What customers tell us, in their own words.

James W. — London, verified buyer
★★★★★
"Bought the Meridian Chain for my partner's birthday. Packaging alone made the moment. Three months of daily wear and zero tarnish. The lifetime repair promise sealed it for me."
Anya K. — Manchester, verified buyer
★★★★★
"I've owned plated pieces from much louder brands. This is the first time I've held vermeil and immediately understood the difference. Horara has earned a forever customer."

Common Questions

The things people ask before buying.

Honest answers on materials, delivery, sizing, and what happens if something goes wrong.

Is your gold real?

Yes. We use 18-carat gold vermeil — a 2.5-micron layer of solid 18ct gold electroplated onto a 925 sterling silver base. This is the official UK legal definition of vermeil and is significantly thicker than standard gold plating. Every piece carries a British hallmark.

How long does UK delivery take?

All UK orders ship free via Royal Mail Special Delivery and arrive within 1–2 business days of dispatch. We dispatch Monday to Friday. Orders placed before 2pm typically ship the same day. You'll receive tracking the moment your order leaves our studio.

What if it doesn't fit, or I change my mind?

Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have 14 days from delivery to return an unused, unmarked piece in its original packaging for a full refund. Just email hello@horara.live to start the process — we'll send a prepaid return label for orders over £200.

What does the lifetime repair guarantee cover?

It covers any craftsmanship-related defect — solder joints, clasp mechanisms, structural integrity — for as long as you own the piece. Accidental damage, loss, and ordinary wear-and-tear aren't covered, but we offer in-house repair at cost and will always quote you before any work begins.

How do I find my ring size?

We use the standard UK alphabetical sizing (J–V). If you're unsure, request our free Horara sizing kit at checkout — we'll send a soft paper sizer that takes 30 seconds to use, with a £15 credit toward your eventual order. You can also visit any UK jeweller for a complimentary measurement.

Will the gold tarnish or fade?

With normal care, no. Avoid prolonged contact with chlorine, perfume, and harsh cleaning products. Store your piece in the supplied microfibre pouch when not worn. We include a complimentary polishing cloth with every order, and a refresh-polish service available anytime at cost.

Do you offer engraving?

Yes, on signet rings, the Mayfair Tie Bar, and select pendants. Engraving is hand-cut by our master engraver in Hatton Garden and adds 7–10 business days to your order. Engraved items are exempt from the standard 14-day return window unless faulty.

Do you ship outside the UK?

At present, we ship within the UK only. International expansion is on the roadmap for late 2026 — join the list below to be notified when we open up to the EU and US.
